Issue 1 page 4

Yeah, Jack doesn't take his job too seriously. Also garbage/scrap is seriously time consuming to draw, it's crazy!

Also, have you ever seen this guy's stuff? It's rad!

Meet this guy... he's a pirate.

Issue 1 page 2

OK, I'm going to make a more definitive pledge here, how's about I update twice a week at least? I'm thinking I'll upload a page from my minicomic Monday and Wednesday, maybe post sketches or something for Friday.

As a few people have noted this ship's design is inspired by the B-17 bomber plane. Largely because I think old planes look cool.

Calico Jack! Issue 1 page 1

After some deliberation and second-guessing I've decided to post the complete first issue of Calico Jack here. I could stick to posting sketches and whatnot regarding the comics but that'd probably be boring. So if the story pacing seems weird keep in mind that it was written and drawn as a mini comic so without further ado--

Here we meet the eponymous (anti)hero Jack Rackham hard at work. So from now on I'm going to try to post comic pages pretty regularly.

2nd issue cover!

Well among other things I found out that registration for Stumptown Comics Fest actually closed on December 30th and there's already a ridiculously long waiting list. Which in short means that I won't have a table this year, on the upside I can think of this as having a whole year to prepare. I'll probably still at the Fest though, meeting my favorite artists and making an ass of myself.
Anyway, here's a sketch for the second issue of my minicomic which is still forthcoming.

I think it might be an improvement on the first issue's, which a few of my readers found a little bland.
Happy MLK day, everyone!

As weird as it is to have more than one blog post in a single day I had some photos of the first issue of Calico Jack and thought it might be a good idea to put them up too. Besides, blogs with just one post are a pretty boring. I'm toying with the idea of posting the comic here as well but I can't decide if posting it one page at a time and including the supplemental stuff would screw up the pacing. It could be that I'm overthinking this, perhaps even underthinking this.

Hello, hello!

I've had this blogger for a while now and not posted anything. Originally I got it to post work on my comics and that is just what I intend to do. After all, in this day in age you're not really a cartoonist without some kind of online presence.
In the meantime I pledge to post new stuff here as often as I can, as non-committal as that sounds.
